This Hibernating Bee's REWIND: Getting Pretty-fied

Did you know that some types of bees hibernate? Yup, and apparently, I'm one of them. Many months of hibernating and I'm finally back...

I'm sorry for this ridiculously delayed post. It's been (gasp!) 10 months since the Latte wedding, and I've been majorly procrastinating writing my recaps. Dealing with lots of life transitions all at once (moving cross-country, leaving family and friends, making new friends, finding a new job, being a wife!), coupled with a hefty dose of the post-wedding blues, just became so overwhelming that I did what I do best: hibernate. Honestly, I still feel like I'm transitioning to this new lifestyle, but it's getting better each day...and I'm finally ready to share with you all the details of the big day!

But before we get to that, let's REWIND. There are a lot of wedding-related details that I never got to share with you, mainly because they were started and completed in a matter of days. So, this hibernating bee's going to REWIND and share those details before recapping the wedding.

And today's REWIND takes us to 2 weeks before the wedding. Those 14 days leading up to the wedding were pure madness. Thinking back, I don't know how I survived. Not only did I have to pack up and organize my life's possessions into separate categories (boxes to be shipped to CA, boxes to bring to NYC for the wedding, suitcase for days before and after the wedding, suitcase for the honeymoon, piles of stuff to be donated, etc), I also had to sell all of my furniture, say good-bye at work, squeeze in dance lessons with Mr. Latte, go to my hair and makeup trial, apply for a marriage certificate, go to my final dress fitting, and finish up all wedding-related projects. All while driving my poor MOH and husband-to-be crazy as they burned the midnight oil to cut, fold, paint, and glue. Oh, and we can't forget about my breakdown at 1 am the day before the wedding. Whew! Just thinking about it raises my blood pressure.

It's no wonder that I hibernated for 10 months!

The calm in the storm? Sitting for an hour at my hair and makeup trial with Sissi Chan. It was so nice to think about nothing else but gettin' pretty-fied. Of course, my mind did often wander to my mile-long list of things to do, but I couldn't do anything, nor could I bark orders at my poor MOH while Sissi was applying my makeup. (It's OK though, I'm hoping my newly-engaged MOH will thank me when she discovers during her own wedding planning that she's a pro with the paper-cutter and bone folder...)

Sissi, calm and collected, got to work and took me from this crazy mess of a lady:

to this pulled-together bride-t0-be:

(pre-makeup)

(post-makeup. sorry for the bad photo and lighting...)

(loved my $18 nordstrom hair flower with sissi's creation!)

(gotta test out the veil!)

Sure, the bags under my eyes were bigger than normal, and yes, all that redness is my face breaking out from all the stress, but that was nothing that a little bit o' magic from Sissi couldn't fix. So I may still be folding programs the day of the wedding, but dang it, I'll look good doing it. Thanks, Sissi!
