XOXO,
Miss Latte
For months, I drooled over my non-friends' shoe lines, dreaming that a brand new pair of wedding shoes would magically appear on my doorstep. It took me some time to wake up out of dreamland, but once I did, I quickly jumped into a massive search for the perfect pair of shoes to wear on the big day. I didn't really have a clear vision of what I wanted the shoes to look like, but I did know one thing...they had to be pink.
I absolutely love the colored shoe trend, and was eager to jump on the bandwagon with my own pair of stylin' pink lovelies. It was actually harder than I thought...so one night, in desperation (and enticed by a 30% off sale), I bought this pair of J.Crew shoes in ivory:

The search for the perfect pair continued for a couple of months before I started to lose steam. And that's when I read Mrs. Martini's post on her beautifully dyed shoes. They looked AMAZING and I was immediately sold. I took my ivory satin shoes to T.O. Dey, where I was presented with a binder full of tiny little swatches of dye colors. After a couple of minutes, we decided on a pink that was close to the shade of the pink suspenders Mr. Latte will be wearing for the wedding.
After 2 weeks, I returned to pick them up. I excitedly walked up to the counter, opened the box and almost cried. No, not the good kind. The shoes were a way-too-bright, need-to-put-on-some-sunglasses, are-they-pink-or-are-they-red, I-can't-wear-these-on-my-wedding-day color. I expressed my disappointment to the guy, and he took them away with the promise to attempt to re-dye them to a color that would more closely match the suspenders.
Another 2 weeks passed by and I went back to the store. I braced myself for the worst, opened the box and let out a huge sigh of relief. They still weren't the exact same shade of pink as the suspenders, but they were close enough.

But upon closer inspection, I noticed a patch of discoloration, and some black specks on the shoes. Apparently, some satin does not take dye very well, and (of course) mine falls under that category. So beware, hive. Ask before dying!

I think the guy sensed my unhappiness because he told me to bring them back after the wedding to get them dyed black for free. Done. I figure that on wedding day, no one will get close enough to the shoes to see all the imperfections. And for pictures, Todd will be able to work his post-processing magic to make them perfect.
Where did you find your perfect pair of colored shoes? And did you learn something new while wedding planning?
